A recent study from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, a member of Bio Nebraska, highlights the significant economic impact of Nebraska’s ethanol industry, which remains the state’s third-largest agricultural sector.
From 2021 to 2023, ethanol production remained steady at around 2 billion gallons annually, generating billions in economic output and supporting 1,800 jobs with high average salaries. Co-products like distillers grains and corn oil contributed nearly half of the industry’s value, reinforcing ethanol’s role as a key driver of Nebraska’s economy.
