DoD Releases 12 Awards for Distributed Bioindustrial Manufacturing Program

Bluestem Biosciences, a member of Bio Nebraska, received $2.16 million as part of the Department of Defense’s Distributed Bioindustrial Manufacturing Program.

The funds will be used to plan an anaerobic fermentation facility for producing an organic acid as a key precursor for the fabrication of defense-related bioplastics/polymers and adhesives.

Bluestem Biosciences was part of the 12 additional awards to bioindustrial firms awarded by the Department of Defense’s Distributed Bioindustrial Manufacturing Program (DBIMP). This announcement brings the DBIMP to 25 awards to date totaling $42 million.
