Celebrating Women in STEM returns!
Join us for Celebrating Women in STEM, a luncheon for Nebraska Women in STEM featuring Silva Raker, the inaugural CEO of the Kiewit Luminarium, and Alison O’Toole, Program Director of the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation and Beyond School Bells, who will talk about the Million Girls Moonshot initiative.
This year, Celebrating Women in STEM will be held at Champions Run in Omaha, Nebraska. This event will offer meaningful conversations and collaborations, as well as an opportunity to connect with Nebraska’s women in STEM.
Celebrating Women in STEM is hosted by Bio Nebraska, in partnership with Nebraska Cures.
About the Speakers
Silva Raker
Silva Raker is Kiewit Luminarium’s inaugural CEO. An accomplished senior executive and former field biologist, she has successfully developed vibrant, mission-based enterprise and talented teams for the educational nonprofit, specialty retail, and travel sectors. Prior to her current role, Raker served as Senior Business Director of Global Collaborations for the Exploratorium and held senior positions at The Nature Company and Backroads, Inc. She has a degree in Zoology from University of California at Berkeley.
Alison O’Toole
Alison O’Toole received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2021. She is now the Program Director for Beyond School Bells (BSB), Nebraska’s statewide Afterschool Network. She co-leads the Million Girls Moonshot; manages BSB’ evaluation contracts; supports grant applications and reporting; and designs, manages, and helps to implement a range of innovative experiences for NE youth.
